Rebreather - Force-E Scuba Centers

PADI Rebreather

Rebreathers are intriguing. They’re cutting-edge dive technology. Why dive a rebreather? You get longer no stop limits, reduced gas consumption because you reuse most of your exhaled gas, and unmatched wildlife encounters because you release minimal to no annoying bubbles. There are two different types of rebreathers, ones designed for recreational dives (Type R) and others designed for technical deep dives (Type T).

New Type R (recreational) rebreathers are lightweight, easy-to-transport and have sophisticated electronics to simplify their use. The PADI Courses Force-E offers for these units are: Discover Rebreather, Rebreather Diver & Advanced Rebreather Diver, Rebreather Qualifier, and Rebreather Refresher

The future of deep technical diving belongs to the CCR (closed circuit rebreather), which is a Type T rebreather. Type T CCRs can be electronic CCRs (eCCRs) and manual CCRs (mCCRs). Using a CCR you focus on developing the discipline it takes to be a technical diver while learning the details of proper setup, predive checks, dive planning, failure and problem management and teamwork for CCR diving. The PADI Courses Force-E offers for these units are: Tec 40 CCR, Tec 60 CCR, Tec CCR Qualifier, and Tec CCR Refresher

Tec 40 CCR Course:

You’ll learn to make no stop or limited decompression dives using a Type T CCR during eight training dives. You’ll also cover:

  • Basic CCR function
  • Tec equipment and CCR setup and checklists
  • Decompression software and open-circuit bailout requirements
  • Post-dive procedures and disassembly

To enroll in the Tec 40 CCR Diver course, you must:

  • Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
  • Be a PADI Enriched Air Diver
  • Be a PADI Deep Diver or show proof of 10 dives to 30 metres/100 feet
  • Have a minimum of 30 logged dives, with at least 10 dives using EANx deeper than 18 metres/60 feet
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Before Training Dive 5, be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver
  • Before certification, have at least 50 logged dives.

Tec 60 CCR Course:

In the Tec 60 CCR Diver course, you complete one confined water and six open water dives. Building on the technical diving knowledge and skills you acquired in the Tec 40 CCR course, you’ll cover new topics such as:

  • Different bailout strategies
  • Offboard gas supply capability
  • Planning tech CCR decompression dives including deep deco stops
  • Offsetting narcosis with helium gas mixes
  • Dealing with CCR problems and dive emergencies

To enroll in the Tec 60 CCR Diver course, you must:

  • Be a Tec 40 CCR Diverqualified on the specific Type T CCR to be used in the course.
  • Have logged a minimum of 150 dives, with at least 25 dives and 50 hours experience diving the Type T CCR used in the course with an offboard bailout system following Tec 40 CCR Diver principles.
  • Have at least 10 logged CCR dives deeper than 30 metres/100 feet.

Note that manufacturer requirements also may apply and qualifying certifications from other diver training organization may be acceptable – ask your Force-E CCR Instructor.

The price you select includes education session and pool session. Boat trips, education materials and certification card are to be purchased separately. Once you purchase your course online you will be connected with a Force-E Instructor to scheduled your sessions and guide you through the gear requirements.

Rebreather Diver Course & Advanced Rebreather Course:

Force-E combines the two courses, Rebreather Diver and Advanced Rebreather Diver to offer you the best training when using recreational (Type R) rebreathers. Through self-study and instructor-guided sessions, you’ll learn how rebreathers work and the importance of proper setup and maintenance. You will also learn about scrubbers, oxygen consumption and bailout requirements, including how to configure a bailout cylinder system. Because rebreathers vary significantly, you’ll also study the manufacturer’s literature for the type of rebreather you’ll train on. During one confined water dive and four open water dives, you’ll practice bailout and other emergency procedures, as well as planning and executing deep rebreather dives.

During the training session you will cover:

  • Performing proper predive checks
  • Developing the habit of keeping the loop closed when the mouthpiece is not in your mouth
  • Doing bubble checks, bailout drills and handling other potential problems
  • Fine-tuning buoyancy control
  • Monitoring displays and gauges
  • Post-dive procedures and disassembly

To enroll in the Force-E Rebreather & Advanced Diver combo course, you must:

  • Be a PADI Open Water Diver, but you must earn a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification to become a PADI Advanced Rebreather Diver
  • Have a minimum of 30 logged dives
  • Are at least 18 years old

Note that manufacturer requirements also may apply and qualifying certifications from other diver training organization may be acceptable – ask your Force-E CCR Instructor.
